Flexible Control Options

The ability to connect to a broad variety of fieldbus networks, and the internal discrete I/O provide a solution for gain-in-weight (filling), loss-in-weight (dosing) and level indication applications. These terminals are suitable for use with either AC or 24VDC input power, providing for flexible integration into a variety of industrial applications.

Take maximum advantage of a hybrid automated control system for process applications with the built-in latched target with two-speed material transfer control, comparators and DIO capabilities of the IND131/IND331.
They enhance performance for process applications using TraxDSP™ digital filtering, ultra-fast analog to digital weight conversions, rapid target comparison and PLC update rates, to ensure that your weight data will be available when you need it.
For use in hazardous environment applications, the panel mount analog load cell version of the PT terminal is FM approved for use in USA Division 2 and Zone 2 classified areas. This version is also marked as a Category 3 G/D device for use in European Zone 2 or Zone 22 areas

Variety of Housing Styles

Versions are offered for wall/column mounting, DIN rail mounting, panel mounting or as an IP69k junction box for placement near a tank or floor scale. The rugged stainless steel housing, shallow profile panel mount display, and easy front access DIN rail version for cabling result in an efficient and flexible solution that fits perfectly into most production environments.

Advanced Calibration and Noise Filtering

For tank applications step-calibration and CalFREE provide the ability to easily calibrate large vessels with minimal or no test weights. TraxDSP advanced filtering technology help assure a stable weight signal even in applications where severe vibration may be present.

Global Approvals

With weights & measures, and safety certifications for all major Global markets, the ability to ship equipment using IND131/331 to customers in a variety of locations is provided. For hazardous area applications Zone 2/22 and Div 2 approvals, including IECEx approval is offered on some models.

The IND131 compact scale terminal is DIN rail mounted to ensure convenient mounting and location. Wiring connections and the operator interface are readily accessible on the front panel.

The IND131 Junction Box scale terminal features an IND131 DIN unit and a load cell summing board mounted in a robust stainless steel enclosure. The enclosure’s integrated mounting brackets simplify secure wall-mounting.

IND331 Panel-mount terminal

Flexible panel mounting for basic industrial weighing

The IND331 compact scale terminal consists of an IND131 terminal unit and a detachable panel display with scale function keys and OLED display. The terminal and the display unit can be mounted to the panel using a patented mounting design, or the terminal unit can be mounted remotely from the panel display unit using the DIN-rail mount design.

IND331 Harsh desk/wall mount terminal

The IND331 terminal for harsh environments is housed in a stainless steel enclosure with an IP66 rating, and provides precision weighing in difficult industrial settings. The enclosure can be placed on a desk or mounted to a wall, and features the same OLED display, operator interface and flexible connectivity as the IND331 panel mount terminal.

Enhanced terminals in robust enclosures

Packaged IND131xx and IND331xx in Enclosures Approved for Division 2, Zone 2 and Zone 22. Each version can be configured with any of the terminals’ multiple interface and connectivity options. Packages include an agency-approved 24 VDC power supply.

Enclosure specifications

The stainless steel enclosure housing the IND131xx DIN and IND331xx panel packaged solutions is FM-approved for use in safe areas, and in Division 2, Zone 2 hazardous areas. The enclosure is ATEX/IECEx certified for Zone 22 (dust) hazardous areas. Cable entry points can be either conduit hubs for use in the U.S., or ATEX-approved glands for European applications.

Load cells in hazardous areas

In applications with load cells installed in Division 1/Zone 1 or Zone 1/21 areas, an intrinsically safe analog load cell barrier (ISB) is required. IND131xx and IND331xx terminals packaged with a METTLER TOLEDO ISB05 intrinsically safe barrier provide an integrated solution for such applications – click on the image at right to see a typical installation, including an IND131xx, ISB and power supply. Refer to the control drawing (available on the documentation tab of this page) for load cell compatibility.

The packaged model configurations are available with any of the PLC interfaces (EtherNet/IP, PROFIBUS DP, Modbus TCP, Allen-Bradley RIO, ControlNet, Device-Net), and Solid State DIO.

Packaged Terminal Solutions - IND131 and IND331

Process terminals in pre-configured packages

The IND131 and IND331 terminals are available in a variety of packaged solutions that can include optional communications, Digital I/O and PLC interfaces as well as an AC or DC power supply. Specify a fiberglass, painted mild steel or stainless steel enclosure, to suit your process environment.

Specifications

Specify a multiple-terminal installation to reduce mounting space and cable runs. Each terminal can be configured for the application required.
With the dry contact relay option installed, the IND131 and IND331 terminals can provide high voltage control signals directly to devices such as ball valves and vibratory feeders. Select latched or coincidence targets in combination with user-defined limit values for up to three comparators, to create a time-saving and cost-effective basic process controller.

Custom configuration

Specify the packaged IND131 and IND131 terminals for specific applications with convenient operators for I/O, such as pushbuttons and annunciators, to make operator interactions easier, more consistent and safer.
Each enclosure type includes integrated mounting brackets and, for DC-powered terminals, an optional internal 24 VDC power supply.
